As you age, the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin its strength and elasticity, slows down. This leads to aging skin, which is when the skin loses its shape and starts to sag. The deep layers of fat that give the skin its plump fullness start to disappear, leading to thinner skin and hollowed areas near the eyes and cheeks. You may see this on your hands, where the loss of fat makes the tendons and blood vessels more noticeable.

The outermost layer of skin develops fine lines, wrinkles and darkened spots from sun exposure, while a loss of pigment leads to paler skin and gray or white hairs.

Aging Skin Treatment

Our Board-Certified Dermatologist and Providers will recommend an anti-aging skin treatment plan based on several factors including:

  • which areas require treatment
  • your skin type
  • results of past skin care treatments
  • your personal preferences

Treatments may include over-the-counter moisturizers or “cosmeceuticals,” topical retinoids, BOTOX®, microneedling, and dermal fillers.
