Ryan was born and raised in Mountain Home, Idaho. He completed his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University before earning a Doctor of Pharmacy at Idaho State University. He then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he earned both his M.D. and Ph.D. His Ph.D. work was in microbiology and focused on global health.

Dr. Wells spent some time in Botswana and South Africa investigating the HIV and TB syndemic. A keen interest in mucosal immunology and dermatology developed during this period. This then led to his realization of the global need for dermatological care. Dr. Wells completed his clinical training in both internal medicine and dermatology at the University of Minnesota where he also completed the Global Health Pathway.

He is excited to be back in his home state of Idaho. In addition to general dermatology, his interests include complex medical dermatology such as rheumatologic dermatology, dermatologic oncology, and dermatologic infectious diseases. Dr. Wells is committed to utilizing his unique background in pharmacy, internal medicine, and dermatology to provide his patients with the highest standard of dermatologic care.
